In many patients the skin is slightly pink for 1-2 days; in others (generally, fairer patients) there is no pinkness after laser hair removal. Hairs begin to fall out in 5-14 days and may continue to do so for weeks.

Does hair fall out immediately after laser treatment?

Lasers can only kill hair in the anagen phase of the hair growth cycle. When you have your laser session only around 15% of your hairs will be in this phase. So 15% of your hair will be destroyed. Only these hairs will fall out 5-14 days after your laser session.

How can I speed up the shedding process after laser?

Exfoliating frequently (scrub or continued shaving) will help speed up the shedding process. Hair growth will be less after each treatment. Laser targets the pigment in the hair. The darker the hair the better the result.

How soon can you shave after laser hair removal?

If you shave too quickly you may irritate the skin even more, so waiting at least three or four days after your treatment is usually ideal. A few days following your laser hair removal treatment, you may notice your hair shedding.

How many laser hair removal treatments are needed?

Laser hair removal usually requires two to six treatments. The interval between treatments will vary depending on the location. On areas where hair grows quickly, such as the upper lip, the treatment might be repeated in four to eight weeks.
