The woman behind the name Woman In The Jungle, Wunmi Akinlagun, created a vlogging platform back in December 2010 to document the healthy hair journey and beauty finds of a woman living in London. Although this initial Youtube channel was never meant to be solely focused on natural hair, it is fast becoming a name associated with natural hair care and styling within the UK natural hair community, with Black Hair magazine featuring W.I.T.J as one of ‘Britain’s Top Natural Hair Bloggers’.
Wunmi says “As well as having a huge passion for fashion and beauty, I am a healthy hair enthusiast who is fanatical about textured hair. As many afro-carribean woman, I too was not quite sure what to expect when I deciding to go back to my kinks. It took a lot of bad hair days, but I have grown to really love my hair. My love of textured hair and hair care has been infectious over the last year, incases converting the unconverted. With my Youtube Channel as a platform I have been able to share my natural hair journey and inspire woman to continue to be confident about their hair, by showing how stylish and versatile textured hair can be. Be it a TWA or waist length, I try to always remind woman that as long as it is healthy it is beautiful.”
