I came across Danielle earlier this year and instantly fell in love with her style and her amazing natural hair. I decided to ask her a couple of questions about her journey and share them with you all.
W.I.T.J – When and why did you decide to go back to your natural roots?
D – I decided to go natural three years, two months and seventeen days ago.. LOL! I was actually planning to loc my hair and that was my reason for my BC. As my hair started to grow in, I fell in love and decided against the locs.
W.I.T.J – Has being natural altered your confidence as a black woman in any way? If yes, how?
D – I was always pretty confident however, going natural brought about a sense of empowerment that I had never experienced prior to being natural.
W.I.T.J – Has your natural hair always been well received by people around you?
D – My natural hair has been well received by the majority of the people around me. Others thought I was going through some type of crisis. LOL! some associate cutting ones hair as a sign of rebellion.
W.I.T.J – What tips can you give to a natural suffering from dry hair?
D – If you suffer with dry hair you must take precautions to ensure that your hair is receiving the necessary moisture needed to thrive. I suggest using olive oil to seal and lock in moisture. It works wonders for me!
W.I.T.J – What is your favourite way to wear your hair and why?
D – I love wearing my hair in curly fros whether it be a fro as a result of a wash & go or a twist out. I think my fav is my frohawk. It’s funky and classy at the same time.
W.I.T.J – Do you have any hair goal, if so, what are these?
D – I don’t have any hair goals besides maintaining healthy hair.
W.I.T.J – If you were stranded on the plains of Africa which one product could you not live without and why?
D – I’m pretty flexible when it comes to products… But if I had to choose one… It would be Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie.
Thank you so much Danielle for this interview, it was such a pleasure. Be sure to stay fly and we hope to see more from you.
